Manchester United are reported to have outlined plans for five of their academy’s brightest stars ahead of a busy pre-season for Erik ten Hag.

In a season that saw Erik ten Hag secure his first trophy as Manchester United manager, the Dutchman is said to be keen to see several youngsters during their pre-season fixtures before confirming if they will be part of his 2023/24 squad.

According to Rich Fay of the Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag is keen to see Amad Diallo train and play in the first team set-up before deciding if he will stick with the squad or not next season.

Amad scored 14 goals and provided a further four assists during his season-long loan at Sunderland, with many calling him one of the best young players in the Championship.

Another player who the Dutch manager is set to give a chance to is Spanish full-back Alvaro Fernandez, who won the Young Player of the Year award at Preston North End – much like Amad did at Sunderland – before deciding on Fernandez’s future.

However, it is also reported that the expectation is that Fernandez will undergo another loan move next season.

The report further explains that Manchester United are set to give star midfielder Hannibal Mejbri a chance in the first-team set-up, with the 20-year-old set to be in United’s pre-season squad.

The final two names, Charlie McNeill and Charlie Savage, are both set for loan moves again this season, with McNeill potentially signing a new contract before heading back on loan as he approaches the final year of his current deal.
