Antony was left out of Manchester United’s Premier League squad to face Bournemouth, and although it was said it was due to injury, subsequent reports claimed otherwise.

After Antony was widely seen as Manchester United‘s Player of the Match against Chelsea two weeks ago, he was relegated to the bench during the following tie against Liverpool before being left out of the Bournemouth squad entirely.

Reports from the Vitality Stadium seemed to confirm that Antony had been left out of the squad due to an injury sustained in training – however, subsequent rumours have questioned the legitimacy of this information.

Following the full-time whistle during the 2-2 draw, rumours then started to spread that the real reason for Antony’s absence was that he had developed a feud with Erik ten Hag over playing time following his Chelsea performance.

Latest on Antony

UtdDistrict understands that, within the club, no news of any injury issue was relayed to club staff about Antony’s reported problem.

This does not mean that Antony was categorically not injured, as it may have happened after training had finished. If that is the case, it is an injury that the club initially kept quiet internally. Sources were also unable to confirm or deny any disciplinary issue.

X account INSIDERUTD1, which often provides accurate news with respect to the latest behind-the-scenes at the club, has clarified that Antony was 100% fit after United’s group training sessions on Friday afternoon.

The information further confirmed that it is currently unknown whether Antony sustained an injury or illness following the conclusion of these sessions.

Finally, it was clarified that, as of now, there had been no news of any kind of relationship breakdown or disagreement between Ten Hag and his Brazilian winger.

Ten Hag often confirms in the media if a disciplinary issue has arisen, as he has done previously with Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho. So if an issue had occurred, it feels more likely that Ten Hag would have addressed it.
