Manchester United to hold concrete talks over Michael Olise in coming weeks
Manchester United are set to hold “concrete talks” with Michael Olise, one of the club’s priority transfer targets, in the coming weeks, according to Fabrizio Romano.
United and Erik ten Hag were humiliated by Crystal Palace 4-0 on Monday evening. One of The Reds’ main transfer targets in the summer transfer window, the first with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS in sporting control, Michael Olise tormented the Dutchman’s side all game.
The 22-year-old Frenchman scored two and, for his first goal, made a mockery of Casemiro and glided through the unchallenging United defence before calmly finding the bottom corner of André Onana’s net.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper was more at fault for the winger’s second goal, a thunderous strike from outside the box. However, it finished quite centrally, and with better positioning, it would have been an easy save for the man between the sticks.
United have been monitoring Olise for some time as they look to bring in a replacement for Antony, who has been in appalling form ever since he arrived at Old Trafford.
The Eagles forward has a reported release clause of £60 million, which, considering his recent performances, could be seen as a bargain.
It has now been stated by Fabrizio Romano via The United Stand that the Red Devils will look to open “concrete talks” with the player and his London club about a move to Manchester in the coming weeks.
Olise would be a massive improvement on the current attacking options, and according to Jamie Carragher, who spoke on Sky Sports after the Palace game, both the 22-year-old and his English teammate Eberechi Eze would ” walk into that Manchester United team”.
Eze was also keen to praise his teammate after the game, saying to Sky Sports: “He [Olise] brings a lot. You can see by his two goals today, you see the quality he has got. You want to play with players like this and the quality he has got is incredible so we enjoy playing together.”
Being a boyhood Manchester United fan, it is likely that if the club were serious about the player’s interest and a deal could be reached between the two sides, then Olise from next season will delight United fans when he scores rather than adding to their misery.
