Manchester United expect to be busy in the upcoming summer transfer window but could be forced to make an unwanted move.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team would like to make a splash in the summer to support Erik ten Hag or another manager in their first full season at the club.

Changes have already begun behind the scenes, such as the acquisition of Jason Wilcox so that the Old Trafford club can be in the best possible position for the summer.

Sales will certainly be important, with reports stating that INEOS will be open to hearing offers for most of the United squad.

However, signings will be another key focus, and it has been started that INEOS are looking to beef up the defence at Old Trafford, as well as signing a midfielder and a striker to support Rasmus Højlund.

Yet, it appears ever-more-likely that the leadership at United will also have to make a replacement in between the sticks after a torrid campaign for Altay Bayındır.

Altay Bayindir could depart after minimal chances

Bayındır joined the club in the summer from Fenerbahçe to act as the no.2 for another new goalkeeper André Onana.

The Turkish goalkeeper had played 145 games for the Süper Lig club but has made just one appearance for United since his move to Old Trafford.

Despite Onana going to AFCON, Bayındır was unable to play a Premier League game and made his belated debut in the FA Cup against Newport County.

Erik ten Hag’s lack of rotation, at least in the cup competitions, could prove to be a decider for Bayındır at the end of the season.

The goalkeeper is 26 years of age and will not want a repeat of this campaign. There have already been reports linking him elsewhere this summer.

In fact, according to reports from Turkey, Galatasaray have signed an agreement with Altay Bayındır for next season, but it’s unknown whether it be a loan deal or a permanent transfer.

Another hole to plug for INEOS

Whilst the back-up goalkeeper is not a massively serious position to fill, it still needs to be done. Tom Heaton is reportedly expected to stay but is likely to remain as the third-choice option.

INEOS and the team at United will be working relentlessly during the summer with incomings and outgoings.

An additional signing to come in as backup is not always easy to find, and it seems that it’s going to end up happening after Bayındir’s difficult season.
