Fabrizio Romano provides important update on Casemiro’s Man Utd future, “likely destination” revealed
Fabrizio Romano has provided an important update on the future of Manchester United midfielder Casemiro ahead of the summer transfer window.
Casemiro, 32, has struggled for United this season after impressing in his debut campaign last term.
The midfielder filled in at centre-back last time out against Crystal Palace and produced a woeful performance in the 4-0 defeat.
Regular questions have been raised over the Brazilian’s future at Old Trafford despite having three years on his contract remaining.
INEOS are willing to discuss a transfer for almost all of the squad and it appears that movements have been made regarding Casemiro’s future beyond the summer.
What Fabrizio Romano said about Casemiro
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has clarified that the club are now anticipating interest for the midfielder this summer, with the Suadi Pro League confirmed as a “likely destination” for the former Real Madrid man.
“It’s obviously not been the best moment for Casemiro at Manchester United, with the veteran Brazilian really struggling in the 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace, and it’s now anticipated that there will be a chance for him to leave the club this summer,” Romano explained on The Daily Briefing.
“We already heard some stories back in November, but there were never any concrete proposals at the time.
“This could change in the summer as Manchester United are anticipating some interest, particularly from Saudi clubs, for Casemiro. The expectation now is for the club and the player to part ways.
“Of course, we’ll have to see what kind of proposals come in and if they’re good enough for Casemiro and for Man United, but there is a possibility for him to leave this summer, and Saudi looks a likely destination.
“Let’s wait and see what official proposals come in, but for sure Saudi looks a concrete possibility for Casemiro, with Man United prepared to let him go if the offer is right.”
The correct move
Unfortunately, it is the correct move for all parties that Casemiro departs the club. It is clear that he is physically declining, and with three years remaining on his deal, United must look to offload sooner rather than later.
His first season at Old Trafford was phenomenal and we cannot forget the cup final goal in the Carabao Cup to help United lift silverware for the first time in six years.
However, it is certainly time for the player and club to part ways after this season.
