Manchester United are closely monitoring Miguel Gutierrez and have sent a scout to watch his games with Girona this season.

Gutierrez, 22, has been a key part of the Girona side who are currently battling at the top of La Liga. The Blanquivermells are currently level on points with leaders Real Madrid.

The left-back has played 20 games this season, completing 90 minutes in 17 of those, and has one goal and three assists so far.

According to The Sun, Manchester United have sent a scout to ‘closely observe’ the Spanish defender on multiple occasions in recent weeks, including on Thursday when Girona won 4-3 against Atletico Madrid.

Gutierrez joined Girona from Real Madrid in 2022 for a fee of around £3.5 million after 11 years in the academy at Los Blancos.

The aforementioned report added that United highly value the Spanish fullback because of his ‘high football IQ and attacking profile’.

German club Borussia Dortmund had a £10.5 million bid for Gutierrez, who has a contract until June 2027, turned down in the summer window.

However, the Spanish side could be convinced to sell the defender for £22 million, added the report.

Real Madrid are still in the picture due to the fact they still own 50 per cent of the player’s rights and have a sell-on clause. They would be able to bring him back to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium if they matched any top bids.

United let go of loanee Sergio Reguilon this month, with Luke Shaw back from injury and Tyrell Malacia closing in on a return.
