Mason Greenwood was sent off for Getafe during their loss against Rayo Vallecano just hours after it was said La Liga clubs were “very surprised” with how good he has been after restarting his career.

Mason Greenwood will never play for Manchester United again after the club confirmed that they felt it was best he restarted his career elsewhere due to high levels of controversy surrounding his personal life.

Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse after evidence circled social media, but the CPS eventually dropped his case, citing that key witnesses did not come forward.

He was eventually sent on loan to Getafe, where he has enjoyed some fruitful form of late, with La Liga clubs “surprised” at how good he has been despite not playing football for almost 20 months.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claimed to The United Stand that La Liga clubs are monitoring his progress and are considering him as a transfer option after being very surprised at how quickly he has adapted to playing football in Spain after such a long layoff.

However, against Rayo Vallecano, Greenwood found himself facing a straight red card after an apparent altercation where he shouted at the match referee in the 50th minute, with his side trailing 2-0.

He is one of three players who were also red-carded during the game, as Juanmi Latasa was sent off for two yellows while Damián Suárez also revived a straight red.

Greenwood has been linked to both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona in recent weeks and has five goals for Getafe this season.
