Ruud van Nistelrooy has arrived in England to put pen to paper on a two-year deal at Manchester United as a first-team coach.

Van Nistelrooy, 48, has made the decision to join Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff alongside Go Ahead Eagles manager Rene Hake.

It has been claimed by MailSport that the former United striker, who scored 150 goals for the club, has flown to England to sign the paperwork ahead of their pre-season start date on Monday.

Rasmus Højlund is one player who will be excited to get to work with the club legend, who will be able to give him valuable advice about the art of goalscoring.

However, United are also keen on bringing in another centre-forward in the coming weeks, with Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee looking set to make the move after agreeing personal terms.

The aforementioned report even mentioned that Van Nistelrooy has already spoken to Zirkzee, his fellow countryman, while United iron out the final details.

The 23-year-old has indicated that he is ready to join the Old Trafford club once his Euro 2024 campaign with the Netherlands concludes.

It was added that United are discussing whether to activate the £34 million release clause in his contract or offer a different payment structure.

Zirkzee played 37 times for Bologna last term as they secured Champions League football for the first time in 58 years. He scored 12 goals and registered seven assists across the season.
