With Liverpool having appointed Arne Slot as their new manager, comparisons have been made between him and Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag.

Erik ten Hag and Arne Slot are among the same group of Dutch managerial coaches that the Eredivisie has produced over the last decade or so.

With Ten Hag heading into his third season as manager of Manchester United, Liverpool have appointed Slot to replace the departing Jurgen Klopp. They are expected to undergo a period of transition as they adjust to life without the German boss.

Slot and Ten Hag have naturally been compared, and former Dutch international Wesley Sneijder has delivered his verdict on the pair following Slot’s appointment at the Merseyside club.

“They are both good coaches,” Sneidjer told talkSPORT. “Slot did an amazing job with Feyenoord, and at United, they are very confident with Ten Hag.

“He has extended his contract, also Ruud van Nistelrooy – I just got the news that he will be moved.

“So I think they can do a big job because they have amazing players at United. There has to be a team, they need time.

“That is what it is looking like so far, they give time to build a team. I think this season they will go for some prizes.”

Sneijder was then asked who he feels will win the Premier League first between United and Liverpool.

“Manchester United,” Sneijder answered. “Because they have time to build something, the coach will stay, and they are confident enough in the coach to build on something. So I believe they will be stronger this season than last season.”
