Two MUTV pundits were in awe of one Manchester United star vs Leicester City after an incredible statistic emerged post-match.

Manchester United secured an impressive win at Old Trafford on Sunday, pushing them closer to a top-four spot in the Premier League.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s team displayed confidence and control throughout, facing little challenge from Leicester City.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring with a fantastic long-range strike, following a clever back-heel assist from Amad Diallo.

The club captain then had a hand in the second goal, which was eventually awarded as an own-goal, before Alejandro Garnacho secured the third with a stunning finish.

MUTV pundits praise Manuel Ugarte

Speaking on the Matchday Review, MUTV pundits Liam Bradshaw and Ben Thornley offered particular praise to Manuel Ugarte.

After a difficult start to life at Old Trafford, the Uruguayan international produced his best performance of the season so far, offering solidity in the midfield alongside Casemiro.

“In the end it was United fairly dominant throughout the whole game, really well in control, defensively really good,” explained Bradshaw in the Old Trafford tunnel.

“And a lot of that was led by Manuel Ugarte doing a brilliant piece of work defensively throughout the whole game.”

Thornley, a former Academy star at United, added: “Yeah, I mean he’ll go under the radar because, you know, it’s always going to be the goals that we scored and rightly so don’t get me wrong, it’s been it’s been something that United had been lacking so to get three goals has been great.

“But his work, the way that he seems to know that position and he looked today that he knows that position, he knows where to be and when he snaps into it invariably wins the ball back for you.

“And you know what it’s like in the Premier League, you need to turn the ball over as quickly as you can, otherwise you start getting over run by teams and, without question, Manuel Ugarte today for me was was the star man out there.”

Ugarte’s incredible statistic

Ugarte was extremely busy on the pitch and managed to register eight tackles during the game, a statistc that shocked Bradford when he seen it.

“I looked midway through the second half and he was already up to seven or eight tackles according to Opta,” he added.

“Now just to give you an idea normally you come out of the game with three, maybe four… you never get towards double figures like Ugarte did today.

“And you’re right, he snapped into almost everything and it it makes such a big difference because it gives your back four a layer of protection that maybe they haven’t had earlier in the season.”
