Shaw, Amad, Yoro: Latest Manchester United injury news as SIX updates provided
Ruud van Nistelrooy has offered updates on six Manchester United players as his squad face Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is set to oversee his fourth match as Manchester United’s interim manager as the team prepare to face Leicester City in the Premier League.
Since Erik ten Hag’s sacking two weeks ago, United have shown improved form. They began with a 5-2 triumph over Leicester in the Carabao Cup, followed by a 1-1 league draw against Chelsea, and most recently, a 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League.
With Rúben Amorim poised to take charge on Monday, 11 November, United will be looking to cap off van Nistelrooy’s interim spell with a vital league win against Leicester on Sunday.
The team currently find themselves in 13th place, with a goal difference of -3, having scored nine and conceded 12 in their first ten league outings.
Latest injury news
In his press conference on Friday afternoon, Van Nistelrooy offered updates on six players, explaining that Amad Diallo is currently being assessed after his substitution on Thursday evening.
“Amad was assessed,” declared van Nistelrooy. “We’re still working on him, to get him ready for Sunday. Hopefully, it will work.”
Further, he also offered an update on Kobbie Mainoo, saying, “Kobbie is also progressing in his injury, he’s making the right steps, but is not yet with the team, though. That needs a bit more time.
Further, Van Nistelrooy explained that Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro are back training with the group after both players suffered injuries in the pre-season.
Harry Maguire remains injured, while Toby Collyer and Dan Gore are not expected back before the international break next week. Tyrell Malacia is also back in training with the squad and is set to rejoin the matchday line-up later this month.
Further positive news
The Dutch interim boss also explained that he was also pleased to see Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount return to the matchday squad after both players missed his first two games in charge.
“I have to say, yesterday, we had a lot of benefit from Christian playing 30 minutes, obviously [Manuel] Ugarte and Mason making his first minutes again. That benefited us as well. So I’m glad that they’re back.
Beyond Amad, United are awaiting results on no other fitness concerns, which will be a big boost for incoming boss Rúben Amorim.
