Man United informed of fifth European club registering interest in Mason Greenwood
Manchester United have now been informed of a fifth European continental club that has registered their interest in signing Mason Greenwood this summer.
Mason Greenwood and Manchester United has been a complex topic across the last two years. IN January 2022, he was suspended from the playing squad due to allegations of domestic violence, but around a year later, the CPS dropped the charges against him.
United then conducted their own investigation surrounding the events, and although they almost concluded in bringing Greenwood back into the team under Erik ten Hag, fan pressure forced the club to reject this idea and instead send the player on loan for the season.

He joined Getafe at the end of the 2023 transfer window and has thrived since, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 34 appearances for the La Liga club.
With INEOS wanting to sell this summer, Greenwood has been earmarked as the No. 1 sale priority in order to raise funds, and a fifth club has now joined the race to tie down the English forward on a permanent basis.
Napoli join the race
According to The Athletic, Napoli have joined the race to sign Greenwood this summer, with the Serie A club reportedly making contact with United over a possible deal. This development adds another layer of intrigue to Greenwood’s potential departure from Old Trafford.
Previous reports have linked Greenwood with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Getafe, and Juventus, highlighting the forward’s widespread appeal across Europe. Napoli area now the fifth club on the continent to reportedly show their interest in the player.
Barcelona’s interest seems to stem from their ongoing search for dynamic attacking options to bolster their squad. The Catalan giants see Greenwood as a versatile forward who could complement their attacking style and provide a youthful injection of talent. Similarly, Atletico Madrid, known for their robust and strategic play, are keen on adding Greenwood’s flair and finishing ability to their ranks.
Getafe’s pursuit of Greenwood is motivated by the connections he has already established at the Madrid-based club, having spent an entire season with the team. The Getafe president has made no effort to hide their desire to keep the forward.
Juventus, on the other hand, are exploring Greenwood as a potential long-term replacement for their ageing players, aiming to rebuild their squad with young, impactful players. Each of these clubs presents a unique opportunity for Greenwood, depending on his career aspirations and development goals.
Napoli’s interest is particularly noteworthy given their strong performance in Serie A and their ambition to compete at the highest levels in European football.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the competition for Greenwood’s signature is heating up. Manchester United will need to weigh their options carefully, making sure that they don’t get lowballed due to the pressure of needing to sell.
