Manchester United could sign Euro 2024 star for free, they are in ‘constant contact’
Manchester United are in ‘constant contact’ with one potential signing who could be added to Erik ten Hag’s squad on a free contract.
After INEOS decided to keep Erik ten Hag as manager, those at United have been focused on bringing in players to support the squad.
Centre-back and striker have been labelled as the two priority positions to strengthen. Central midfield is another important position to add depth to.
With Casemiro and Christian Eriksen likely to depart the club, the likes of Joao Neves and Manuel Ugarte have been linked with an Old Trafford move.
However, United will also have to be careful not to overspend, as they are walking a financial tightrope this summer. Any low-cost transfers are likely to be considered.
According to TEAMtalk, the Reds have held preliminary talks with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot about a potential summer move. The Frenchman is unlikely to renew his current deal with the Serie A side, which runs out this summer.
It was added that, while there is competition for the 29-year-old, United are pushing hardest to land him and have been in constant contact with Rabiot in recent months. Reports from Italy have suggested that he wants the move to Old Trafford this summer and is waiting for a deal to materialise.
Currently on Euro 2024 duty with France, Rabiot is keen to maximise his earnings from his next contract, and Juventus’ offer is not up to scratch. He has been linked to United several times in the past.
This is something that United need to be wary of, with new CEO Omar Berrada insistent on fixing the wage bill at the club.
Nevertheless, the report concluded that Rabiot is towards the top of United’s midfield wishlist this summer and Ten Hag is urging Ratcliffe to make a move for the midfielder, whom he is a huge fan of.
