PSG’s stance on Manuel Ugarte as Manchester United bid for midfielder
Manchester United have registered an interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer.
United are looking to boost their squad in a variety of positions, with centre-back and striker being the priority roles at the moment.
There is also a desperate need to improve in midfield, especially with the likely departures of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen this summer.
According to Sky Sports, the Reds are interested in PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte to boost their engine room in the coming months.
It was explained that the Uruguayan international is one of several players United are considering. Loïc Tanzi has since reported that United have seen an opening offer for the midfielder rejected by PSG.
It was also explained that negotiations for a potential deal remain open between the two clubs.
PSG only signed Ugarte from Sporting last summer for around £50 million last summer, but L’Équipe have reported that he is facing an uncertain future at the French club.
With manager Luis Enrique seemingly unconvinced by the midfielder since his arrival, PSG are now open to the possibility of selling the 23-year-old.
It was added that the player has already been offered to Juventus and AC Milan but that it remains to be seen if either of those are interested in a potential deal.
Importantly, while PSG are open to selling the player, the report explained that they are hoping to recoup close to what they paid for Ugarte last summer.
It seems like this is a deal that United could do, but they will need to cough up close to £50 million to make it happen.
