Some of Manchester United’s injured players are nearing a return to action for Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad.

The Reds drew 0-0 against Crystal Palace on Saturday in what was an underwhelming evening for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Two positives to come from that game were the returns of Mason Mount and Rasmus Højlund to the match-day squad. Højlund came off the bench to make his first appearance of the season.

UtdDistrict have provided the latest news on the remaining injured players in United’s squad.

Tyrell Malacia

Tyrell Malacia has been unavailable since the summer of 2023 with an ongoing knee injury but is closing in on a potential return.

The Dutch full-back returned to the grass at Carrington late last month and has recently taken part in the opening part of the group session.

United will be wary of moving too quickly with the defender but he could begin to be integrated back into action in October, potentially after the international break.

“He’s making big steps, so we think, at short notice, we can expect him in the team training, and he is a talent, it’s natural,” Ten Hag said. “I expect also, soon, he can return into games then.”

Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw suffered injury injury in the summer after competing at Euro 2024 with England. He has not appeared for United since February.

Originally set to return after the September international break, Shaw is still not in team training and will likely not be available until the beginning of October with games against FC Porto or Aston Villa to play.

“First, Luke Shaw, he’s progressing but not ready yet to be selected,” Ten Hag said last week. “Of course, we have a plan in our head when he can be ready, but you are always dependent on how the progress will go.”

Victor Lindelöf

Victor Lindelöf has been unavailable since an issue in pre-season, he was pictured with crutches last month and has a toe injury.

However, the defender returned to first-team training last week alongside Mount and Højlund.

He could be available within the next week, with upcoming clashes against FC Twente and Tottenham Hotspur.

Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro is yet to play a competitive fixture for his new club after suffering a fractured metatarsal during a pre-season friendly against Arsenal.

He has made progress in his recovery, no longer needing to use crutches, and working hard behind the scenes at Carrington.

A return will likely not come until the back-end of November.
