Leny Yoro injury news, the Sekou Kone plan: Five Manchester United international break updates
There have been Manchester United updates regarding Leny Yoro and Sekou Kone across the international break so far.
The Reds started the new Premier League season disappointingly, winning just one of their opening three league fixtures.
Erik ten Hag will hope for improvements once his team return to action next weekend against Southampton, with many players now away with their nations for the break.
UtdDistrict have collected five of the biggest updates regarding United over the international break so far.
Leny Yoro injury update
Leny Yoro suffered an unfortunate pre-season injury shortly after completing his move to United in the summer and has since had successful surgery on the foot issue.
The Frenchman has been spotted at Old Trafford wearing a protective boot and crutches in recent weeks but has made progress since the international break.
According to a new report from the Manchester Evening News, Yoro is now walking without crutches as he advances in his rehabilitation from a foot injury.
This marks a positive step in his recovery. The centre-back has been working in the gym at Carrington alongside Manchester United’s physio team as he aims to regain full fitness.
United’s plan for Sekou Kone
Sekou Kone, 18, signed for the club in a surprise summer deal for around £1 million. The teenage midfielder is viewed as a high-potential player who could soon play in Ten Hag’s team.
However, when Kone’s move from his home country, Mali, was confirmed, the club soon made it clear that he would be slowly integrated into his new life in Manchester.
United are doing their best to help the 18-year-old get comfortable. MailOnline reports that a dinner was arranged last week with some academy players to help Kone form a friendship group.
It was also reported that United have arranged for him to live with house parents to ensure the youngster doesn’t find himself isolated in a new country.
Following on from this, Kone was spotted at Old Trafford on the weekend for the club’s legends game against Celtic, as he continues to settle into life before action on the pitch begins.
Players starring on international break
United players have starred on the international break so far. Bruno Fernandes has a goal and assist for Portugal, and Diogo Dalot also scored last week.
Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee scored his first goal for the Netherlands in his first start and produced a stunning display. Noussiar Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, and Harry Maguire have also impressed with their countries.
Incoming academy talents Chido Obi-Martin and Samuel Lusale also found the net as they returned to action for their nation’s youth sides.
Shaw and Højlund set to return
In terms of more injury updates, Luke Shaw and Rasmus Højlund are both expected to return and be in contention to play against Southampton on the weekend.
In fact, a new report from MailSport has detailed that Højlund has been “working around the clock” to get himself back into shape for selection.
It was explained that the 21-year-old has remained in high spirits despite the injury setback and has been working away from the first-team squad with conditioning coach Mike Clegg and first-team physiotherapist David Binningsley.
Legends game raises close to £1 million
As touched on previously, United’s legends played a game for charity against Celtic’s legends at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The likes of Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney all appeared for the home side, with Rooney scoring a beautiful free-kick goal before United lost on penalties.
It was confirmed by the club on Saturday evening that the game had raised almost £1 million for the Manchester United Foundation.
