Bruno Fernandes outlines his Manchester United dream, admitting club must improve
Bruno Fernandes has admitted that Manchester United must improve to achieve his ultimate goals as the club captain.
Bruno Fernandes has been a transformative figure for Manchester United since joining the club from Sporting in January 2020. His immediate impact was evident as he revitalised the team’s midfield, bringing creativity, vision, and a consistent goal-scoring threat under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Fernandes quickly became the focal point of United’s attack, contributing goals, assists, and key passes that helped elevate the team’s overall performance. His ability to dictate play and deliver in crucial moments earned him the admiration of fans and pundits alike.

His leadership qualities on the pitch also saw him take on the role of vice-captain, further solidifying his importance to the team. Over the seasons, Fernandes has maintained high standards, regularly topping the club’s charts for goals and assists.
Despite some fluctuations in form, particularly during periods of team struggles, he remains one of United’s most influential players. His knack for stepping up in big games and his relentless work ethic have been critical in Manchester United’s pursuit of silverware.
At the start of the 2023/24 season, Erik ten Hag promoted Fernandes to captain, taking over from Harry Maguire. He was instrumental in United’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City, assisting Kobbie Mainoo’s winning goal among a string of other brilliant displays.
“Yes, I am perfectly aware that this Manchester United is not ready to win the Premier League,” the Portuguese international told DAZN.
“We are, indeed, fighting for the title with the concrete and real objective of trying to finish in the top four, in the places that give access to the Champions League.”
Further, he admitted that there is a lot that the club must improve and that his dream is to win the Premier League, no doubt as the club’s captain.
“But there is still a lot to improve for the greater objective and for my dream, which is to one day win this championship.”
Fernandes signed a new United contract last month, committing himself to the club until 2027, with the club retaining an option to extend it by another year. In his 234 appearances for the club, the club captain has scored 79 goals and contributed 67 assists.
