Dan Ashworth remains a “big fan” of one Premier League star, who caused major problems for Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot this season.

Manchester United strengthened their squad this summer with the signings of Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte.

These additions have significantly boosted Erik ten Hag’s team, with the club’s transfer strategy backed by funds from key player sales.

INEOS’ revamped recruitment team also made notable progress at the academy level, securing several exciting young prospects, including Sekou Kone and Samuel Lusale.

United and Ashworth interested in Southampton star

According to a new report from GiveMeSport, Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling is on the radar of United and sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Ashworth, who tracked the teenage winger during his time at Newcastle, remains a big fan of Dibling and would like to bring him to Old Trafford to continue building a strong young core.

However, the report also mentioned that Southampton are confident in tying the youngster down to a new deal at St Mary’s Stadium.

The player is comfortable with his surroundings at the newly promoted Premier League outfit but it was added that United could attempt to turn the 18-year-old’s head.

Southampton are one of the relegation favourites this season, which could play a role in Dibling’s price tag and future even if he does sign new terms.

Dibling stood out against United

United will be much more familiar with Dibling after his display against Ten Hag’s side last weekend.

Despite winning against Southampton 3-0, the Reds struggled in the earlier stages of the game, particularly on Dibling’s wing.

The youngster created the best chance for his team after cutting inside to shoot towards the far corner shortly before he won his team a penalty that was ultimately missed.

Diogo Dalot, who joined United from Porto for £19 million in 2018, had one of the toughest 45 minutes he’s experienced in a long while before bouncing back in the second half.

Considering it was Dibling’s first Premier League start, it is no surprise to see United linked to the exciting youngster.
