INEOS’ controversial £17m transfer decision proven correct, Man United fans are delighted
INEOS’ controversial £17 million summer transfer decision has been proven correct, and Manchester United fans are delighted.
The Reds won 7-0 in the Carabao Cup against League One outfit Barnsley on Tuesday evening.
Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for United with a composed finish, followed by Antony’s successful penalty to double the lead.
Alejandro Garnacho added a third just before halftime, providing the Reds with a comfortable advantage.
In the second half, Rashford and Garnacho each netted their second goals, and Christian Eriksen sealed the win with a brace of his own.
Erik ten Hag’s side delivered an outstanding performance, storming into the fourth round of the cup with a dominant victory.
Mazraoui impressed in cameo
Noussair Mazraoui started the game on the bench. He was rested after starting the first four Premier League games of the season.
The Moroccan came into the action, and while it was against League One opposition, he showed his class during his cameo.
He has also been one of United’s more impressive players so far this term after a somewhat controversial move from Bayern Munich.
INEOS’ new-look leadership decided to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham and replace him with Mazraoui, a decision that split opinion amongst the fanbase.
However, the early signs suggest that United made the correct decision, and Mazraoui costing a total package of around £17 million looks to be a bargain.
Fans were split on the decision to sell Wan-Bissaka and sign Mazraoui, but some are already being swayed by the performances of the 26-year-old.
