Why Manchester United need to wait to find out Carabao Cup fourth-round opponents
Manchester United will need to wait to find out their opponents for their fourth-round of the Carabao Cup after winning 7-0 against Barnsley on Tuesday evening.
Marcus Rashford kicked off the scoring for Manchester United with a confident finish, followed by Antony converting from the penalty spot to make it 2-0.
Alejandro Garnacho struck just before halftime, adding a third and giving the Reds more control.
In the second half, Rashford and Garnacho each scored their second of the night before Christian Eriksen completed the rout with his brace.
Erik ten Hag’s team put on a brilliant display, powering their way into the cup’s fourth round with a commanding win.
Why United need to wait to find out Carabao Cup opponents
Usually, teams would be finding out their opponents for the next round of the Carabao Cup in the coming days after the final fixture.
Instead, this season, the Carabao Cup third-round fixtures are being split across a two-week period.
This is due to Champions League fixtures being staged across the continent this midweek. Those teams will be playing their games this time next week.
The fourth-round draw will take place shortly after the Carabao Cup clash between Liverpool and West Ham on Wednesday, 25 September.
United will face FC Twente in the Europa League on the night, and the draw will be shown live on Sky Sports.
The fourth-round fixtures will occur on the week starting on the 28 October. For United, this will be sandwiched between Premier League fixtures against West Ham and Chelsea.
