Erik ten Hag handed huge boost as two key players return to Man United training
Manchester United have welcomed both Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund back into first-team training ahead of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.
The returns of both Mount and Hojlund will be welcome news to the ears of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, with the Dutchman without two key players for some time.
Mount, the more recent absentee suffered an injury that forced him off the pitch at half-time in United’s 2-1 loss to Brighton earlier this season.
Hojlund meanwhile, has not been seen since pre-season after suffering a game-ending injury against fellow Premier League side Arsenal.
In that game, United’s number nine would score after just ten minutes, before having his game cut short mere moments later.
United’s top scorer last season, Hojlund in one season has already picked up ten Premier League goals.
Hojlund will return to a frontline that has been praised heavily by Ten Hag for its lack of selfishness.
Speaking to members of the club’s media team following United’s 7-0 domination of Barnsley, Ten Hag stated the following about his attacking options:
“They want to show you are also part of this. We are together. It’s a long season and we need everyone.”
Ten Hag’s big decision:
With Hojlund and Mount returning to first-team training, Erik ten Hag may have several massive decisions to make regarding his first-team selection.
In their last two games, Ten Hag’s Red Devils have scored ten goals, with eight different players picking up at least one goal contribution.
Whilst Crystal Palace may be too soon to see either Hojlund or Mount return to the starting XI, Ten Hag still finds several of his players in goalscoring form.
United have six more games before the next international break starts on the 7th of October, meaning rotation is key, and Ten Hag is unlikely to have an easy time naming his teamsheets.
