When Leny Yoro could return for Manchester United as defender “desperate” to return for key fixture
Leny Yoro has been unavailable for Manchester United since pre-season after suffering a fractured metatarsal but is fighting to get back to fitness.
Yoro, 18, joined Manchester United in the summer transfer window in a move that shocked many, with Real Madrid chasing the talented defender.
Unfortunately, the Frenchman is yet to make his competitive debut for his new club after an unfortunate injury in pre-season.
Yoro underwent successful surgery on the foot issue and was spotted at Old Trafford wearing a protective boot and crutches towards the beginning of the season.
Recent reports have detailed that the player has since started walking without crutches and many are eager to know when he will return to the team.
Yoro desperate for United return
According to a new report from Ben Jacobs, while United are not planning to rush Yoro’s reabilitation, the 18-year-old is desperate to be available to feature away at Arsenal on December 3.
The teenager suffered his foot injury in a pre-season friendly against the Gunners, who are a tough opposition. The Reds will be hoping to have found some consistent form by that point of the season.
Jacobs added that Yoro could be back on the grass at Carrington in mid or late-November if his current recovery schedule goes as planned.
Centre-back depth a positive
Fortunately for Erik ten Hag’s side, the depth that they have in central defence means that Yoro will not be needed immediately and he can come into the team slowly once fit.
Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martínez look to be a strong pairing to build on, while Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans are solid backup options for now.
It would not be a surprise to see the young defender return to the line-up for the first time in the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen on 12 December.
By then, United will hope to be in a strong position in the new-look league table for the European competition, meaning it could be an easy game to ease Yoro back into.
Despite his age, Yoro will likely then be looking to force his way into the starting team for Premier League clashes, although, it appears clear that the teenager is eager to return as soon as possible.
