Manchester United star “should be worried” about place in Erik ten Hag’s XI, says ex-Red
A former Manchester United star has suggested that one player” that the “should be worried” about his place in Erik ten Hag’s team.
The Reds have experienced a mixed start to their Premier League campaign, managing only two wins from their first five matches.
A commanding 7-0 victory over League One side Barnsley secured their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
Now, Erik ten Hag’s side turns their attention to the Europa League, a competition they are also aiming to conquer this season.
One player may be concerned about their position in the team, however, with former Red Lee Sharpe sharing his opinon.
Casemiro’s position in jeopardy
Casemiro was originally expected to depart Old Trafford in the summer transfer window but a move did not materialise.
The Brazilian started the season for United alongside Kobbie Mainoo but has been on the bench for the last two Premier League games after a terrible display against Liverpool.
Christian Eriksen was preferred on both occasions and surprisingly shone. Meanwhile, new signing Manuel Ugarte is waiting in the wings as he gets to full fitness.
While it is early in the season, Sharpe believes that Casemiro’s position in the lineup is under threat and that the 32-year-old is unlikely to start much moving forward.
“It’s difficult to say that any player should be worried about their position in the team after just four games,” began Sharpe, speaking to Express Sport.
“Casemiro made a few obvious mistakes and gave goals away against Liverpool, but then so did Kobbie Mainoo.
“But I don’t think we’ll be seeing as much of Casemiro now that United have signed Manuel Ugarte.”
