A hidden new detail has been spotted about Old Trafford in the club’s latest video on the regeneration project following ‘complex’ reports.

Manchester United are weighing two options regarding the future of their stadium, with a final decision anticipated by the end of 2024.

Old Trafford, renowned as one of football’s most iconic venues, has fallen behind in modern standards under the Glazers’ ownership, leading to serious consideration of constructing a new stadium.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has expressed his preference for building a new facility, previously describing his vision for United’s home to be the “Wembley of the North.”

A joint task force was created earlier this year, which includes United legend Gary Neville, to explore options for regenerating the Old Trafford area, with the development of a world-class football stadium at the heart of the project.

Hidden Old Trafford detail in Man Utd video

A new video released by the club came shortly after a statement was made about the regeneration project of Trafford Park.

It was found that, should the project go ahead, it would hugely benefits economically. With the creation of 92,000 new jobs, more than 17,000 new homes and an addition £7.3 billion per year to the UK economy.

However, a hidden detail was noticed during the video, where the changes expected to be made are being shown.

In the video, the new stadium, along with new housing and public-transport lines, replaces the existing Old Trafford structure.

While this was what was initially expected, there had been reports in recent weeks that suggested the club were considering keeping the legendary stadium, making it a smaller capacity, and then using it for womens team games and academy fixtures.

Instead, this video from the club suggests that this plan is no longer going ahead.

Why Old Trafford cannot be used

Many fans were in favour of reports which suggested that United may keep Old Trafford even if a new stadium is built.

This was seemingly the best of both worlds, with many fans against the idea of seeing the stadium being demolished.

However, recent reports from MailOnline claimed that the club were ready to abandon the plans to keep Old Trafford if they build a new stadium.

It was realised that scaling down the iconic stadium to a capacity of around 30,000 to host Academy and Women’s fixtures would be too complex and unlikely to work.

Should the decision to build a new stadium and regenerate the local area go ahead, it will undoubtably upset some fans, particularly the match-going supporters, but it seems like an exciting and ambitious project.
