Manchester United have lost the opportunity to offload one player, as West Ham United turned down the chance to sign after his performance against Grimsby Town.
Jason Wilcox, the Manchester United Director of Football, is looking to complete several outgoings before the end of the transfer window on Monday evening.
The majority of Rúben Amorim’s list of outcasts remain at the club, despite being left out of the pre-season tour squad back in July. Only Marcus Rashford has left the club so far this summer.
Alejandro Garnacho appears to be close to completing his move to Chelsea, but United will remain busy until the deadline as they look to offload at least four more first-team players.
Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho have had offers from Italy and other clubs, but both remain at Old Trafford, while Antony could be close to finally leaving for Real Betis.
Rasmus Hojlund is the other name on the chopping block after Amorim replaced the Dane with Benjamin Šeško, who made his first start against Grimsby Town.
West Ham reject chance to sign Onana
Another man who could still leave Old Trafford before the end of the summer is Andre Onana, who has been dropped to second-choice goalkeeper for Altay Bayindir, with Senne Lammens also close to joining the club.
West Ham United has reportedly opened talks to sign the Cameroonian shotstopper, but today The Guardian have revealed that Graham Potter’s side have “turned down the chance” to sign Onana.
This news comes just days after Onana’s horror performance against Grimsby Town, where he made errors for both goals and countless weak efforts in the penalty shootout..
If Lammens joins United, Onana would drop to third choice in the pecking order, unless his performance in the Carabao Cup has pushed Tom Heaton ahead of him.
While it isn’t a priority, United needs to continue their efforts to move on the former Ajax goalkeeper, as it is clear he won’t have a career as first-choice at Old Trafford.
Heaton should be given a chance against Burnley
Bayindir and Onana have both been linked with moves away from United this summer, recently and earlier in the window, meaning Tom Heaton is the only goalkeeper guaranteed to be at the club come next week.

Against his former club, Heaton should be given a chance to showcase his abilities in between the sticks over either Bayindir or Onana.
The veteran was included in Amorim’s six-man leadership group, so he is a valued member of the squad, and the other goalkeepers continue to make mistakes, no matter the opposition.
After being a very loyal servant to United across the last few seasons, he deserves an opportunity.
