Third club enters race for Jadon Sancho after Manchester United price drop amid potential Alejandro Garnacho problem

A third club has entered the race for Jadon Sancho after Manchester United dropped their demanded fee; this could be due to a potential problem surrounding Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United need to sell players quickly if they want to continue their incoming action in the transfer market, after spending upwards of £120 million on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Marcus Rashford has been moved on from Rúben Amorim’s first team, but only on a temporary basis as he joins Barcelona on loan, meaning United haven’t raised a transfer fee.

Several other players could still leave the club, with Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho at the top of the sale list if Jason Wilcox receives an offer he is happy with.

United will demand a high fee for Garnacho due to his young age, and Sancho will want to stay as a high earner, given his rumoured £300,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford.

It is unlikely either will play a part in Amorim’s squad next season, with interest thought to be high, especially for Sancho, despite Chelsea choosing not to activate their £25 million buy option earlier this summer.

Dortmund enter the race for Sancho

Juventus have been the club most interested in Sancho since it was confirmed he wouldn’t join Chelsea, but their offers have been below United’s previous valuation of £25 million.

Italian rivals Inter Milan also joined the race, with reports suggesting that they had made contact with both the player and the Red Devils, but an offer doesn’t appear to have been submitted yet.

However, Ben Jacobs has now reported that Borussia Dortmund have also entered the race for their former star boy after hearing United had lowered their valuation to just £17 million.

A return to Dortmund would make it a third stint at the German club for Sancho, after he rejoined them on loan just one year ago, following his fallout with Erik ten Hag.

Garnacho problem could arise

While Garnacho will likely move away, a deal isn’t easy for United as the Argentine has made it clear he wants to stay in the Premier League. Aston Villa and Chelsea have expressed interest, but an offer is yet to be made.

Ben Jacobs has said “Garnacho is expected to leave”, but Chelsea’s pursuit of Xavi Simons could make a deal unlikely, as Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has already joined Enzo Maresca’s side as a left-wing option.

While Jacobs has said Chelsea “could potentially sign” both Garnacho and Simons, the United No.17 may look for a different club if he has concerns about game time.

With United still looking to sell Antony and Tyrell Malacia, a deal for Garnacho could be put on the back burner, and Amorim may have to consider if a return to the first team is possible, after his comments in the post-match interviews of the Europa League final.
