Pundit says INEOS ‘will never’ sanction Man United transfer, they would look like ‘complete idiots’

One pundit has claimed that INEOS would never sanction a specific Manchester United transfer as they would look like ‘complete idiots’.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new-look team at Manchester United have not been afraid to make controversial decisions in their reign so far at Old Trafford.

The wide-scale staff cuts, stadium plans and most recently the decision to take away Sir Alex Ferguson’s ambassadorial role have all been scrutinised.

However, one pundit has suggested that the new bosses at United would ‘never’ allow Antony to return to Ajax on loan following recent rumours about the winger’s future.

Antony transfer would make INEOS look like ‘complete idiots’

Reports have claimed that Antony is available for loan or transfer in the January window and that Ajax are one of the clubs interested in their former player.

United bought the winger from the Eredivisie side in the summer of 2022 for a staggering £85 million and he has failed to make any significant impact since joining.

Dutch pundit Bart Sanders believes that INEOS would look like ‘complete idiots’ if they sanctioned the transfer to send Antony back to the club you paid so much to.

“The more serious media have said something about it, but Antony returns to Ajax on loan – I don’t see it happening,” Sanders said.

“Manchester United will never do this from a loss of face perspective.

“As a club, you look like a complete idiot if you sign someone for a hundred million euros and two years later, you rent him back to his old club.

“That is a loss of face of the highest order, isn’t it?!”

Antony’s future is not at United

It may be a harsh assessment considering INEOS were not at the club when United made the decision to sign Antony, but there’s no hiding from the fact that it would still be embarassing for the club.

Ultimately, while his future may not be back at Ajax, it doesn’t seem like it is at Old Trafford either, with both Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo ahead of him in the pecking order.

Antony has started just one game so far this season – in the Carabao Cup against League One side Barnsley.
