Manchester United surprise exit confirmed as Jadon Sancho situation clarified
Manchester United have had a surprise exit confirmed this week as Jadon Sancho returned to training at Carrington.
The Reds have been preparing for the upcoming pre-season fixtures and it provides an opportunity for several young players to impress.
Willy Kambwala was probably one of the players expected to have a chance after an impressive breakthrough campaign in the first-team last season.
However, the French centre-back rejected a contract extension at Old Trafford earlier this week and now looks certain to depart to Spain.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a medical has been booked for Kambwala at Villarreal this week and a deal has been agreed between the clubs.
It was explained that United will receive an £8.4 million package for the defender. Importantly, a buy-back and sell-on clause will be included in the deal.
Kambwala made his United debut against West Ham last season and then made nine further appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Meanwhile, there are question marks surrounding Jadon Sancho after he returned to United training this week. He was one of the players expected to leave this summer but will now take part in pre-season.
The issues with Ten Hag have also been resolved, which has opened the door for him to stay at the club.
It has been clarified by Sky Sports that the likes of Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are not giving up hopes of signing the 24-year-old winger despite his United return.
However, importantly, it was added that neither club are able to afford United’s £40 million price tag, with Juventus needing to sell in order to afford Sancho.
It seems that United will not bow down to a lower fee. Sancho’s future remains open but now that the problem with Ten Hag is gone, they are under less pressure to sell.
