Manchester United hint that fresh transfer has collapsed with official announcement

Manchester United have hinted that one of the last transfers of the summer window has broken down with a new official announcement.

Manchester United remain active in the transfer market for the time being, as some transfer windows remain open for the coming days.

Andre Onana’s transfer could be the last one of the window, Jason Wilcox’s job it doesn’t done just yet because another United star has been linked with a move to Turkey.

Rúben Amorim’s squad now must prepare for Manchester City on Sunday, in a clash that is sure to provide some serious entertainment.

While three stars are out injured for the derby, Amorim will be confident that his side can deliver a positive result and build on the positive momentum from the 3-2 Burnley win.

However, Amorim’s squad could increase before the derby on Sunday, as some young players and out-of-favour options may be included for the short trip to the Etihad.

Malacia is added to United squad

Tyrell Malacia was one of the names on Amorim’s infamous “Bomb Squad” list at the start of the summer – along with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

While the other four found moves away from Old Trafford, Malacia remained at Old Trafford beyond the English transfer deadline and looked set for a move to Turkey.

However, United appear to have hinted that his move to Turkey has broken down, as Malacia has been included in the official squad list for the 2025/26 season.

The Dutchman is now available for selection and can feature in the Premier League, including against Manchester City this Sunday, if Amorim wants to choose him.

Malacia could still leave United because the Saudi Arabian transfer window remains open until Tuesday, 23 September, but no move appears to be on the cards at present.

Could Malacia feature against City?

With Diogo Dalot out injured, Patrick Dorgu is likely to be reinstated to the starting lineup, with either Amad or Noussair Mazraoui playing at right-wing-back.

Diego Leon has played backup to Dorgu on the left side this season, but Malacia may take his place as Leon featured in a friendly for the under-21s against a PFA 11 last week.

However, even if Malacia does leapfrog Leon, he is unlikely to be involved for the time being because he could still leave United, and he hasn’t trained with the team all summer.

He will need time to rebuild his fitness before joining the first-team setup fully.
