Manchester United have made their final verdict on an out-of-favour star, who is believed to be on £200k per week.
Manchester United’s summer transfer business could be decisive in their hopes for a successful Premier League and European campaign next season.
Due to the poor finish last season under Rúben Amorim, United have been without European football for the first time since 2014-15. This left the squad light on numbers for 2025/26, and new recruitments will be needed in the summer.
Casemiro announced he will be leaving Old Trafford in the summer transfer window earlier this season, with Manuel Ugarte also linked with a move away – Jason Wilcox has shown he looks to sell people after two poor years at the club.
This leaves United’s defensive midfield position needing new recruits, especially if Toby Collyer can’t prove himself at Hull City until the end of the season.
United will also be looking for a new left-winger for the new head coach. United missed out on Antoine Semenyo in January, and Michael Carrick has no natural options to choose from in that position, as United started the season with a 3-4-2-1 formation.
United make decision on Sancho’s future
In Carrick’s first stint at the head of the Old Trafford dugout, Jadon Sancho starred on the right flank and netted his first goal for the club in a Champions League tie against Villarreal. Cristiano Ronaldo also scored a brace in Carrick’s first game.
Now, though, Sancho has had several poor seasons at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag, and has since been loaned out to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
Sancho’s United contract expires at the end of the season, but they have a one-year extension option if they wish to activate it. This would allow United to sell Sancho in the summer transfer window.
However, according to The Sun, United have made the decision not to extend Sancho’s contract and, as such, he will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the year.
United’s need for a left-winger grows
While it was unlucky, Sancho could’ve been a real option for United’s left flank, and if not him, the other man in the picture above – Anthony Elanga. Both could’ve had successful careers at Old Trafford, but didn’t succeed for whatever reason.
Marcus Rashford has been linked with a return, but Barcelona are reportedly looking to renegotiate the fee to sign him on a cheaper deal.

United’s need for a left-winger is growing more and more by the day, especially with Patrick Dorgu’s injury. He will return before the start of next season, but as a young player, it may take him some time to hit the form he was in before the hamstring injury.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have played there since Dorgu’s injury, but neither looks entirely comfortable in the role. They will do until the end of the year, but a left-winger has to be a target in the summer.
