Manchester United are making wholesale changes to Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff this summer as the club look to restructure in a new era under INEOS.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe‘s 27.7% acquisition of Manchester United has brought a whole host of changes at Old Trafford across multiple levels of the football club.

While those at the very top have been appointed, such as Omar Berrada as CEO and Dan Ashworth as sporting director, the club has also been eyeing changes to the on-field team.

The last few days have seen reports of bids for several new players, such as Joshua Zirkzee, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Leny Yoro, as the club look to build a new squad under Erik ten Hag.

However, a third department that is seeing a large reshuffle is Ten Hag’s coaching staff, with several fresh faces expected for the 2024/25 season.

According to The Mirror, Ten Hag’s assistant coach, Michtell van der Gaag, has left Manchester United, although conflicting reports exist as to where these changes have been sanctioned.

“There are conflicting suggestions over whether it was Ten Hag himself who felt his coaching staff needed freshening up or that the move was at the behest of United’s football leadership team and minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, following their forensic end of season review,” the report reads.

This news comes after the club allowed Benni McCarthy, former striker coach, to leave following the expiry of his contract at the end of last month.

United are set to appoint three new assistants for Ten Hag, and the club hopes UK work visas will be sorted out this week.

Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake will join Ten Hag as assistant coaches, while former Burnley goalkeeping coach Jelle ten Rouwelaar is joining the club just a few months after sealing an agreement with Ajax.

Although no official announcement has been made, all three new members of Ten Hag’s coaching team were at the club’s Carrington training complex on Monday morning to finalise their contracts.

It is hoped that an announcement will come before the end of this week.
