Manchester United ‘seriously interested’ in surprise Euro 2024 star, talks will take place soon
Manchester United are reportedly ‘seriously interested’ in signing one surprise star from the latest European Championships.
The Reds are aiming to strengthen several positions in the coming weeks, with centre-back and striker being the initial priorities.
Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are looking likely to come into those positions, which means that the INEOS-led regime at Old Trafford can soon turn to other positions to improve in the transfer window.
One of those is expected to be left-back after severe struggles there last term. Erik ten Hag was often without a recognised left-back available due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Several left-sided defenders have been linked to the role in recent weeks, but one Euro 2024 star has emerged as an exciting option.
According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Ferdi Kadıoğlu is an option that United are ‘seriously considering’, and he is on their shortlist.
It was clarified that while there has been no contact between the clubs yet, an enquiry with the player’s camp is expected to take place soon.
Kadıoğlu, 24, was one of Turkey’s standout performers at left-back during their Euro 2024 campaign, in which they reached the quarter-finals.
The 24-year-old has played in almost every position across the park during his short career so far but settled comfortably at left back last season with Fenerbahce.
Arsenal have been another Premier League club credited with interest in the defensive talent, who has a market value between £21-25 million.
It seems like a smart deal for United to pursue, but it is likely that they will need to wait for sales before progressing with a bid of any kind.
