Rúben Amorim is reportedly ready to cut his losses as a European giant establishes contact with Joshua Zirkzee ahead of a transfer from Manchester United.

Joshua Zirkzee‘s introduction to life at Manchester United has been far from smooth following his £36 million transfer from Bologna in the summer.

Signed to push Rasmus Højlund for a starting role under Erik ten Hag, Zirkzee showed early promise with a debut goal against Fulham. However, the Dutch striker has since struggled, failing to score again and finding it difficult to make a meaningful impact.

Zirkzee’s game is built around dropping deep to contribute to build-up play rather than operating as a traditional target man, offering a distinct profile to United’s attack. Unfortunately, this approach has not delivered the results expected.

With just one goal and two assists in 18 appearances, Zirkzee is now the subject of growing interest as the January transfer window approaches, with clubs reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation.

Juventus hold talks

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Juventus have now held talks with Joshua Zirkzee’s agent.

Although reports have stated that United are unlikely to sanction a sale in January as it would leave their striker power further depleted, all news suggests that Amorim is ready to cut his losses on the striker.

United are looking to sign a new striker in 2025, and reports have linked the club to attacking options such as Omar Marmoush and Victor Boniface, as well as Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyökeres.

Although they still view Højlund as a brilliant long-term project that the club can develop into a high-scoring striker, they need extra firepower.
