Manchester United see £42m Leny Yoro bid “ACCEPTED”, but there’s a major issue
According to reports, Manchester United have had a bid of around £42 million plus bonuses accepted by Lille for the transfer of Leny Yoro this summer.
Manchester United plan to strengthen their defence by signing multiple centre-backs this summer after a difficult season under Erik ten Hag, which left them eighth in the Premier League and out of the Champions League by Christmas.
The team conceded over eighty goals in all competitions, frequently changing their defensive lineup due to injuries, resulting in more than 30 different combinations across 52 matches in the 2023/24 season.

INEOS, which controls Old Trafford’s sporting operations, is evaluating potential signings for the 2024 summer transfer window. The club has been linked to several high-profile defenders, including Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite.
However, fresh reports from France have revealed that United have had a bid accepted for 18-year-old Lille and French centre-back Leny Yoro.
This is according to information from French transfer guru Nabil Djellit. Djellit has claimed that United have submitted a “written offer” for Yoro totalling around £42 million plus bonuses—although these bonuses are not detailed.
It is said that Lille have accepted this offer as it is vastly superior to that of Real Madrid, who are far from finalising a deal for the player.
However, it is said that Yoro’s priority remains Real Madrid over any other club which is a major issue for the Red Devils, but United are pushing to try and convince the player to move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League instead.
United are also thought to have issued a bid worth up to £50 million for Everton’s Branhwaite, although some reports have already claimed that this has been rejected.
It has also been reported that they are closing in on a deal for Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, with a fee of around £42 million expected to be the final sum depending on negotiations.
De Ligt is said to have given his priority to signing for United and reuniting with Erik ten Hag five years after the pair parted ways while the Dutch manager was at Ajax in 2019.
