Jarrad Branthwaite has reportedly provided a reaction as Manchester United prepare a third bid for the Premier League and Everton centre-back this summer.

Manchester United are focused on bolstering their defence by signing multiple centre-backs this summer after a challenging season under Erik ten Hag, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League and exit the Champions League by Christmas.

The team conceded over eighty goals in all competitions, frequently changing their defensive lineup due to injuries, resulting in more than 30 different combinations across 52 matches in the 2023/24 season.

INEOS are currently evaluating potential signings for the 2024 summer transfer window. The club is linked to several high-profile defenders and has already submitted two bids for Jarrad Branthwaite.

Just under a month ago, United submitted a bid worth up to £43 million for the English defender, which was swiftly rejected by his club, Everton. Then, on Monday evening, a second bid worth up to £50 million went in, which was once again rejected.

A report from The Times has claimed that United will return for a third bid for the 21-year-old, while Everton are still holding out for £70 million.

Reports have confirmed that Brantheaite has already agreed terms with the Red Devils on a five-year contract on an approximate wage of £160,000 a week, but according to HITC, Branthwaite is not attempting to cause any problems in order to push a deal through.

“In terms of Branthwaite, sources with knowledge of the situation insist that he is trying to leave the issue with his representatives but we are told that the 22-year-old has made it clear that he would like the chance to move across Lancashire,” the report reads.

“However, it is also believed that Branthwaite and his representatives believe Everton are due the deal they are looking for – so as it stands he won’t agitate for a move at this point.”

United are said to be working on securing the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro alongside Brathwaite. In an ideal world, the club would want three new centre-backs but is unlikely to do so due to budgetary restraints.
