One Manchester United starlet is set to leave the club permanently this summer, with interest from the Premier League and Championship.

Charlie McNeill is set to leave Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expires.

According to ManchesterWorld, the 20-year-old striker will depart Old Trafford permanently this summer after two loan spells in recent years.

McNeill joined United from rivals Manchester City in 2020 for a fee of £750,000 and was highly rated due to his goalscoring record in lower age groups.

He formed a great relationship with Alejandro Garnacho in 2022 when the Under-18s won the FA Youth Cup final. They scored five and seven goals, respectively, in the competition that year.

The striker spent the second half of the 2022/23 season at Newport County, playing all 20 league matches and scoring two goals. He returned to the EFL at the start of this season with a short-term deal at Stevenage.

After beginning his League One stint with a goal on his debut, McNeill was then limited to just three appearances due to injury.

He returned to United in January and has played for the club’s Under-21 side in the second half of the campaign while training with Erik ten Hag’s first team on several occasions.

The report explained that with other attacking talent, such as Joe Hugill and Ethan Wheatley, McNeill is seeking a fresh challenge this summer.

It was explained that despite a frustrating two years, he remains an attractive prospect due to his previous youth-level success.

A move to the Championship appears most likely, though Premier League sides and clubs in Portugal and Germany are also interested.
