Erik ten Hag has been handed an early boost as Manchester United prepare to face Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United have had a mind-boggling injury crisis to deal with in defence in the last few months, with six first-team defenders all currently out of action ahead of an FA Cup semi-final clash against Coventry City.

With Lisandro Martínez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Raphaël Varane, and Victor Lindelöf all confirmed absentees and Jonny Evans touch-and-go, there was further worry when Erik ten Hag admitted that Harry Maguire was struggling with an injury against Bournemouth.

“Harry Maguire had an issue in the first half, and luckily for us, he overcame and recovered from it,” United manager Erik ten Hag said after the weekend fixture.

“You can see the second half he was up there and then he can express his leadership, he can express his defensive qualities and rest on the ball, we especially needed that in this back four.”

Maguire was not spotted in the most recent set of training photos, but information from the Manchester Evening News has not stated that the England central defender is now set to be fit for the trip to London.

Elsewhere, Antony is back in training after an injury last Friday kept him out of the squad that drew 2-2 with Bournemouth. Although there were rumours that he had been left out due to a dispute with Ten Hag, sources have stressed that this is not the case.

Scott McTomiany was absent from the Premier League draw but is pushing to be fit for this weekend after injuring himself against Chelsea.

Ten Hag will likely provide a further update on the status of his squad when he hosts his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.

Academy trio Harry Amass, Habeeb Ogunneye, and Ethan Wheatley have all been given the chance to join Erik ten Hag’s first-team training sessions and matchday squads lately. the U18s team enjoyed a fantastic league title victory over Wolves on Sunday.
