INEOS are assessing their options as Manchester United are set to reduce their wage bill by over £1 million a week this coming summer.

Manchester United have become infamous within the last decade for handing out extremely high-paying contracts to big-time players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphaël Varane, and Jadon Sancho.

INEOS, who are now in control of all sporting activities at Old Trafford, want to cut significant funds from the club’s wage bill, with one obvious player being Casemiro.

Casemiro was at fault for the penalty United conceded against Burnley on Saturday afternoon, with many fans calling for the Brazilian to be sold this summer.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the club are now exploring Casemiro’s sale, with INEOS accepting that they will not be able to recoup the £60 million they signed him for in 2022.

According to the report, Casemiro’s situation at Manchester United could lead to “one of the big transfers of this summer,” with the club considering releasing him in the coming transfer window.

It is further explained that United would accept offers close to £34 million, which is around half of what they paid for him during Erik ten Hag’s debut season.

However, the interesting information comes when Fichajes also mention the alternative strategy United are assessing the feasibility of.

It is said that the club are also considering reaching an understanding with the Brazilian international on financial compensation to try to “force his departure”—essentially paying him to leave Old Trafford.
