Jadon Sancho has now broken a Bundesliga record following his latest goal for Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho is likely not to play for Manchester United again following his fallout with Erik ten Hag earlier this season, where the winger claimed the Dutch manager was playing favourites and brandished him a liar in the public media.

Sancho released a statement claiming he was being scapegoated after Ten Hag claimed Sancho had been dropped from the squad to face Arsenal following poor training performances. After the English forward refused to apologise for his words, he was frozen out of the squad.

In January, Sancho left Old Trafford to return to Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan deal. Since then, he has started to find his feet again, helping the Bundesliga club reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they now face Paris St. Germain next month.

Although his future remains undecided, if Ten Hag remains in his position beyond this summer, Sancho will be sold.

Bundesliga record breaker

In their most recent league fixture, Dortmund suffered a poor 4-1 defeat away from home against RB Leipzig. Jadon Sancho opened the scoring, setting a new Bundesliga record in the process.

In the 20th minute of the tie, he cut in onto his right foot from the left wing, unleashing a lovely curling effort beyond Peter Gulacsi into the top right corner of his goal in a move that Dortmund fans have seen many times before.

Sancho’s strike means he now has 40 goals in the Bundesliga, which is the most ever scored by an English player in the competition. He surpassed Tony Woodcock’s 39 for FC Koln – although Harry Kane already has 33 to his name during his debut season and will no doubt break Sancho’s record in the coming months.

A message from starlets

A result to reflect on… thank you for the travelling fans who came to support us today!” Jadon Sancho wrote on Instagram after the tie.

“A bittersweet moment also for breaking the English record goal scorer in the Bundesliga surpassing the legend Tony Woodcock!”

Sancho’s honest message was met with applause as two Manchester United academy starlets, Shea Lacey and Finley McAllister, who shared the love after Sancho’s brilliant effort.

It is no surprise that those from the academy are giving Sancho love, as he was often made to train and eat with the U18s and U21s following his banishment from the first-team squad.

Also among those praising the winger was former United academy player DJ Buffonge and ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
