“I feel for all of you…” Manchester United legend’s stunning reaction to FC Twente draw speaks volumes
The stunning reaction of a Manchester United legend to the club’s draw against FC Twente speaks volumes about Erik ten Hag’s plan at Old Trafford.
In Manchester United‘s Europa League opener, Erik ten Hag saw his team held to a 1-1 draw by FC Twente, the club he grew up supporting.
Christian Eriksen gave United the lead with a fantastic goal in the first half, but a momentary lapse allowed FC Twente to equalise with 20 minutes remaining.

Despite late substitutions, including Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Højlund, United couldn’t secure a victory, and the match ended in a frustrating draw.
Following the result, former United winger and club legend Gordon Hill, who played for both Manchester United and FC Twente, made his thoughts on the result known, explaining that he feels sorry for fans of the Old Trafford club.
“Having played for both clubs, it was a good result for FC Twente, 1-1 at Old Trafford,” Hill said on social media following the game.
“United will be disappointed with that result, but every time I watch them, I don’t know what I am going to get.
“Below par for me, way below, I just do not see his plan. He keeps going on about [it]. Very frustrating. All the money spent with little to show.
“I feel for all of you. I am sorry you are watching this, even I am disappointed and feel for you.
“I am listening to Erik now, so just wait while I listen. Wow he has just said ‘we have to be more consistent, and clinical, we have to finish. we score another goal and we win’. Has he thought what Twente had in mind? Just confusing, totally. He may see it, but I don’t see it.
“I am saying it as I see it, and I have been in the game all my life. I just don’t see it.”
This rather stunning reaction to the result speaks volumes. Hill references his vast footballing experience within his claim that he cannot see Ten Hag’s plan within games, which goes to show that, to trained eyes, they cannot understand the end goal of the Dutchman’s plans.
In the early games of the season, United were pressing well and looking to create high turnovers, but in recent games, this has seemingly waned.
The style of play resembles last season’s as the players continue failing to break down low blocks and not taking their chances in front of goal.
