Chido Obi-Martin transfer update as delayed Man United move explained
Chido Obi-Martin will become Manchester United’s newest starlet in due course and there have been a transfer update for the young star.
Chido Obi-Martin was widely regarded as the top academy talent at Arsenal after netting 32 goals for their Under-18 side last season.
Despite this, he opted against signing a scholarship deal with the London club, exploring other opportunities, including a visit to United’s Carrington training ground.
Reports in late July confirmed that he had agreed to join Manchester United, with the potential for first-team opportunities playing a crucial role in his decision.
However, since then, there has been little information about the 16-year-old striker, and no official announcement has been made by either the player or the club.
United must receive the necessary clearances from the Premier League and Football Association in such deals.
Meanwhile, deals for James Overy and Samuel Lusale have both been announced after they also had to go through the ratification process.
Obi-Martin’s Man Utd delay
According to the Manchester Evening News, United were confident there wouldn’t be any issues with the approvals of Overy and Lusale, and the same applies to Obi-Martin.
There is considerable excitement surrounding the signing of prolific youth striker Obi-Martin from Arsenal, with academy staff viewing his arrival as a significant coup.
A source told the aforementioned report that United are still awaiting formal ratification for Obi-Martin, but an agreement was reached in July, and confirmation is expected soon.
An exciting group at Man Utd
With Overy and Lusale set to join the Under-18s, who are unbeaten so far this season, and Obi-Martin likely to play for them and the Under-21s as well, there is an exciting group being put together at Carrington.
The new boys join great existing talent at the club such as Harry Amass, Gabriele Biancheri, Shea Lacey and Amir Ibragimov.
Many of these talents will be eyeing potential first-team football in the coming years, none moreso than the prolific Obi-Martin.
