Marcus Rashford and Shea Lacey have sent messages to Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho after he broke a Bundesliga record this weekend.

Sancho, 24, re-signed for Borussia Dortmund on a six-month loan deal in January after he was exiled from the United first-team squad.

The winger picked a public argument with manager Erik ten Hag after he was left out of the squad to face Arsenal at the beginning of the season.

After months on the sidelines, a mid-season move away was crucial for Sancho, who has enjoyed a solid return to the Bundesliga.

He has helped Dortmund reach the semi-finals of the Champions League and was able to make history in the Bundesliga this weekend.

After scoring in their defeat against RB Leipzig, Sancho overtook Tony Woodcock as the record English goalscorer in Germany’s top flight.

Sancho now has 40 Bundesliga goals after scoring 38 during his first stint with the club.

“A result to reflect on… thank you for the travelling fans who came to support us today!” wrote Sancho on Instagram.

“A bittersweet moment also for breaking the English record goal scorer in the Bundesliga surpassing the legend Tony Woodcock!”

Despite being away from United, his teammates were quick to congratulate him. Marcus Rashford responded with two love hearts.

Meanwhile, youngster Shea Lacey, who is similarly rated to Sancho when he was his age, also offered support to Sancho, simply writing: “The man”.

United’s under-18s captain Finley McAliister was among those to reply to Sancho’s post, as well as Tammy Abraham and Reiss Nelson.
