Premier League legend launches fierce rant on Erik ten Hag’s latest Man United comments
One Premier League legend has launched a fierce rant on Erik ten Hag after his latest comments on Manchester United.
Arsenal icon Martin Keown was far from impressed with the United manager after the club’s 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchman has not led his team to victory in back-to-back Premier League fixtures since mid-February. The latest games were against Sheffield United and Burnley – two teams destined for relegation to the Championship.
Despite this, Ten Hag praised his team’s performance and suggested that United “dominated” their game against Burnley and that it was a “very good” display. United had less possession than Vincent Kompany’s side.
“We are disappointed. If you are controlling and dominating the game, and then give it away, it’s frustrating,” he stated.
“From the performance, the team did very well. Burnley are playing very high intense football.
“(The United team of) 2004/05 they didn’t play that great football, they were building. It takes time. Even players who were in that team forget they needed time to progress.”
Speaking afterwards, Keown labelled Ten Hag’s comments as “propaganda” and that the manager is “not fooling anyone” with his praise of the underwhelming United team.
He told the BBC: “It just feels like propaganda. I don’t know what he thinks he is achieving. It was actually a very good game but only because United were very open.
“They’re not convincing performances and he’s not fooling anybody with those comments of his.”
United have four remaining Premier League fixtures before their final game of the season against Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
