Christian Eriksen reveals Man United dressing room message after FC Twente draw, it is unacceptable
Christian Eriksen has revealed an unacceptable message that came from the Manchester United dressing room after their draw against FC Twente.
Manchester United’s Europa League opener started at a decent pace, with both teams generating early opportunities.
However, it wasn’t until the 35th minute that Christian Eriksen unleashed a stunning strike, beating Lars Unnerstall to give United a well-deserved lead.
As the second half began, Marcus Rashford, in fine form, continued pushing for what would be his fourth goal of the season, bringing United close to extending their lead.
But just after Alejandro Garnacho came on to replace Amad Diallo in the 66th minute, FC Twente capitalized on a defensive error by Eriksen, breaking through United’s backline to level the game at 1-1 with over 20 minutes remaining.
With momentum swinging in FC Twente’s favour, Erik ten Hag responded by introducing Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Højlund, and Mason Mount with 15 minutes left on the clock.
However, United failed to create any clear cut chances barring a late header from Harry Maguire, which was well saved.
Eriksen reveals dressing room message
Eriksen was the man to front up to the media after the game and the midfielder explained how the team were disappointed with the result, but also the performance.
In fact, the 32-year-old admitted that the players were speaking in the dressing room and said that the Dutch visitors “wanted it more than us”, which is unacceptable to hear for any United fan.
“I think we’ll be mostly disappointed as a team. We wanted more, but it was far from good enough,” he told TNT Sports.
“We said in the changing room that they wanted it more than us and that’s not right.”
United must improve their form as they enter a busy period of the season, with important games against the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.
