Erik ten Hag fires response to Jamie Redknapp’s bizarre Marcus Rashford rant, “You are not OK”
Erik ten Hag has responded to Jamie Redknapp and other pundits who were speculating on why Marcus Rashford was not starting for Manchester United against Crystal Palace.
The Reds delivered one of their most dominant performances of the season at Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.
However, despite controlling the game and creating numerous opportunities, Erik ten Hag’s side couldn’t convert their chances and had to settle for a draw.
This leaves United with just seven points from their opening five Premier League fixtures—an underwhelming start, despite showing promise.
Ten Hag responds to Jamie Redknapp’s bizarre Marcus Rashford rant
Marcus Rashford was dropped to the bench for this game and the decision raised a few eyebrows amongst the United fanbase considering he scored three goals in his last two games.
However, Alejandro Garnacho has also been in fine form and he came in for Rashford. Ten Hag made it clear before the game that it was rotation.
After full-time, despite hearing this from the manager, former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp refused to believe this reasoning.
He suggested live on air that the only reason Rashford could be taken out of the lineup was due to an issue behind the scenes and went onto criticise the forward once again for his disciplinary actions from last season.
This bizarre rant, or something similar, clearly got back to Ten Hag when conducting his post-match press conference.
The manager was asked for the reasoning behind Rashford being on the bench once again and he stated that any pundits speculating against his words are “not OK” and “crazy”.
“Yeah, I have heard already this speculation from some pundits. That is crazy,” he told reporters.
“I would almost say, as a person you are not OK when you bring such speculation.
“This is just rotation, we have many games to cover and we have more than 11 starting eleven players and we will give players chances.
“I’m very happy with Marcus, with everything. The defending part, offensive, he has scored in this moment. He was on the bench for rotation.”
