Man United could make transfer offer this week after fourth summer exit confirmed
Manchester United could make their opening transfer offer this week as INEOS target defensive reinforcements at Old Trafford.
United wrapped up the 2023/24 season with a triumphant FA Cup final win against Manchester City, but their eighth-place finish in the Premier League was disappointing.
Erik ten Hag’s future is uncertain as INEOS aims to strengthen the squad this summer, whether for the Dutchman or a potential new manager.
A critical area requiring reinforcement is central defence, particularly after Raphaël Varane’s departure.
In recent reports, Jarrad Branthwaite has been named the club’s priority signing. However, the latest information suggests the Old Trafford side will be moving elsewhere in the coming days.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United appreciates Goncalo Inacio and have sent scouts to watch the Sporting Lisbon defender in recent months. He further clarified that the Portuguese centre-back has a release clause in the region of £50 million.
Further reports from Record have stated that the Premier League side are preparing to move forward with a proposal to sign Inacio and are best placed to sign the defender.
It was added that informal contacts between United and Sporting for the 22-year-old have already taken place and the next step will be presenting a concrete offer, which could arrive in the next few days.
This follows on from confirmation that a fourth United player will be leaving the club this summer. Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, and Alvaro Fernandez have all departed.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Omari Forson is set to leave the club as a free agent later this month when his contract expires. The winger made his debut for Erik ten Hag’s side last season.
The 19-year-old made seven appearances but will now leave the club, with teams already interested in his signature.
