Omari Forson gathered his first senior goal involvement as Manchester United defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 on Thursday evening.

Although Kobbie Mainoo will rightly grab most of the headlines due to his fantastic winning goal for Manchester United against Wolves, it must be noted that Omari Forson, who came on in the final minutes of the fixture, grabbed his first goal involvement for the club.

Forson was the man who assisted Mainoo for his fantastic goal at Molineux Stadium in what was his first-ever taste of Premier League minutes, having also featured for United twice in the FA Cup so far this season.

Forson, being 19 years old, assisting 18-year-old Mainoo for the 97th-minute goal was the first time in almost 19 years that a Premier League match-winning goal was both scored and assisted by teenagers.

It is the only second time in league history that such a moment has happened, with the other being Cristiano Ronaldo, at age 19, assisting Wayne Rooney, age 18, for a winning goal against Liverpool at Anfield in 2005.

It is no doubt a moment that will go down in history as one of the most classic Manchester United-esque winning goals, especially considering that both players have graduated from Carrington’s academy.

Ten Hag spoke about Forson recently, stating that he is one of multiple options that United have who can cover at striker.

“We have Omari, we have Amad Diallo,” Ten Hag said when asked about who could provide cover for Rasmus Højlund if necessary.

“Of course, we have Rashford, who can play there. But I think for the rest, all the positions are occupied. We have to be a little bit creative, it’s up to the No. 9 position.”
