Rasmus Højlund dubbed a “beacon of hope” at Manchester United after Erik ten Hag’s poor season
Martin Tyler has explained how he thinks Rasmus Højlund is a “beacon of hope” at Manchester United following a mixed season under Erik ten Hag.
Rasmus Højlund‘s first season at Manchester United ended with him being the club’s top scorer, having netted 16 times across all competitions in a red shirt.
However, it was not all roses and petals for the 21-year-old, as the Danish striker struggled with two goal droughts that coincided with the team’s poor form under Erik ten Hag at points in the campaign.

However, Højlund certainly showed fans why the club decided to spend £72 million on his signature despite his unproven record, and many fans are excited to see how he could develop in the coming seasons.
Martin Tyler, the famed football commentator, has lauded the young forward, explaining how to he believes Højlund provides a feeling of “hope” at United.
“Manchester United, everybody’s been looking at their season critically, and understandably so, the numbers don’t add up for a club like Manchester United,” Tyler told The Joy Of Football Podcast.
“But, Rasmus Højlund, I think, is a beacon of hope for them. He found it hard to get some league goals, Premier League goals early on, but since actually Christmas time, he’s contributed a lot. They won their last two league games and scored in both those two.
“I like him. I think he’s pacey and optimistic, and they need some future thinking, and he’s done well in the present, but I think he’ll have a very good time because he’s wondering what the future will hold.
“Will Erik ten Hag stay? We’re all wondering about that. But the goalscorers? They live in their own world, and I think he’s in the right world.”
