Harry Kane agrees with Rasmus Højlund on ‘fantastic’ Manchester United transfer target
Harry Kane has agreed with Rasmus Højlund on a ‘fantastic’ Manchester United transfer target this summer.
Kane, 31, is currently at Euro 2024 with England, and the Bayern Munich striker is prepared to play against the Netherlands in the semi-final of the competition.
The former United target is hoping to lift the first piece of silverware in his career. Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw are representing the Reds in the Three Lions squad.
One of the players Kane could be up against is Bayern teammate Matthijs de Ligt, who also looks set to be joining United this summer.
While he has not been starting for Ronald Koeman’s side so far in the tournament, the England captain was quick to praise his 24-year-old teammate.
Kane said: “Matthijs has been a teammate of mine now for the last year. Fantastic player, fantastic guy, obviously.
“I am not sure if he is going to start tomorrow or not. But, if he does, we have had a lot of battles in training, so tomorrow will be no different.”
De Ligt is reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford after falling out of favour at the Bundesliga side and a deal looks possible, with United in need of defensive reinforcements.
The prospect of signing the former Ajax and Juventus defender was posed to United striker Rasmus Højlund earlier this month, who praised De Ligt but kept tight-lipped on the rumours.
“That has nothing to do with me, so I can’t answer that question, but he is a good defender,” Højlund responded.
Victor Lindelöf is likely to depart the club, while Jonny Evans has yet to agree to a new deal after his one-year contract expired.
The club are reportedly interested in signing two centre-backs as a result, having already placed bids for Leny Yoro and Jarrad Branthwaite.
