Erik ten Hag addresses Marcel Sabitzer signing for the first time
Erik ten Hag has called Marcel Sabitzer a fantastic player after Manchester United’s Carabao Cup semi-final win against Nottingham Forest.
Marcel Sabitzer signed for Manchester United on a six-month loan deal after it was confirmed on deadline day that Christian Eriksen would be out for at least three months with an ankle injury sustained against Reading in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Speaking after the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg victory against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening, Ten Hag said on the signing: “I’ve known the player for a long time, at Salzburg, and especially Leipzig, he’s been fantastic.
“I expect the same here. He’s got a great attitude, he’s the right age, I’m sure this opportunity will motivate him and he will perform.”
Sabitzer himself spoke to the club after completing his signing, saying:
“Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions. From the moment I heard about this opportunity I knew it was right for me. I am a competitive player; I want to win and help the club achieve its aims this season.
“I feel that I am at my peak as a player, and that I can contribute a lot of experience and energy to the squad. I am excited to start with my new team-mates and manager and to show my qualities to Manchester United fans.”
Sabizter did not play against Nottingham Forest, as the club say his visa is yet to be finished processing – but there is a good chance he could make his debut against Crystal Palace.
He was at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening to watch United play Forest.
